How a 3D Printing Job Manager rollout works

Configure the shop around a real print job and rehearse the difficult handoffs before release.

  1. Agree the operating cycle

Choose a customer order with a clear part, material and printer. Assign responsibility for order approval, release requests, finishing and lot disposition.

  2. Prepare identities and stock

Load customers, suppliers, items and printers. Link shop people to platform users and reconcile material balances by item, lot and location.

  3. Configure working screens

Set up the planner's release inbox and schedule, operator assignment screens and reviewer queues. Check personal filters with the actual people who will use them.

  4. Rehearse the actions

Try a rejected release, a corrected release and a replay. Post and reverse a measured material quantity, then end a valid production interval and inspect the resulting review state.

  5. Check finishing and purchasing

Record a finishing result that keeps a lot Held. Rehearse a partial supplier receipt and agree the incoming-stock handoff before operators issue that material.

  6. Release the pilot

Review access and open issues with the shop owner. Use the agreed customer job for the first live operating cycle, then expand when the team can explain the result from its records.

What the customer provides

Provide current item codes and units, opening material balances, customer and supplier identities, printer availability and capacity assumptions. Bring a model file the operator recognizes and a customer order that can be followed through the shop. Name the people who approve orders, record production and decide lot outcomes.

Identify the owners of CAD, printer controls, accounting and shipping. Agree which connections are needed for the pilot and who can authorize their setup.

Changing it afterwards

Review each change against the same operating case before applying it to live work. A new finishing convention needs an operator handoff check; a changed stock rule needs posting and reversal reconciliation. Keep responsibilities and the paired operating screens aligned with the team’s actual work.
