What you can do
Decide the request the officer actually submitted
Independent Credit Approver reviews the application in its organization scope and decides the frozen revision. The decision retains the reviewer, time and reason alongside the source revision. Credit Officer can then see whether the application was authorized, rejected or returned for further preparation. A person’s access to the review screen does not itself grant the ability to decide.
A reviewed farm-credit extension has its own preparation and decision path. It names the farm, requested amount and parent application. The reviewer must connect that request to the supporting evidence for the same revision. Keep this distinction clear when a farm has an existing application and asks the lender to review additional credit scope.
How the work is organized
- Independent underwriting. Credit Officer prepares the application; Independent Credit Approver approves or rejects it. The reviewer must be eligible for the organization and separate from the submitter. The decision belongs to the reviewed version, so an amount change requires a fresh check of the revision.
- Farm-credit review. Credit Officer prepares the farm request in Draft and sends it as Submitted. Independent Credit Approver records the decision before the review becomes Approved or Rejected. Completion depends on the provider-authorized outcome after approval.
- Decision evidence. Preserve the reason, parent application and operation reference with each decision. Auditor can read the history within authorized scope. App Administrator maintains membership but cannot create an independent reviewer entitlement through ordinary administration.
What to agree during setup
Name the people who can act as Independent Credit Approver and establish how their organization scope is assigned. Agree how returned requests are corrected and how the officer communicates a revised amount. Retain earlier decisions so the team can explain why a later application revision required another review.
Set the supporting-evidence requirements for a farm-credit extension with the lending team. The reviewer should be able to identify the parent application, requested amount and revision before deciding. Define the provider evidence needed for completion separately from the local approval. Rehearse access using the roles guide before the pilot team receives live cases.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Use a rehearsal farm that requests an additional $3,000 against an existing application. Credit Officer submits the farm-credit review with the evidence for that exact request. Independent Credit Approver confirms the parent and revision, enters the decision reason and approves it. The team should locate the persisted decision before treating the review as Approved.
Repeat with the submitting officer attempting the same approval and with a reviewer assigned to another organization. Both attempts should fail. Then change the requested amount while keeping the earlier review open. The reviewer must revisit the new revision. Finally, inspect an approved request awaiting its provider outcome; the approval alone must not make it Completed.
