Plan and release production

Prepare product routes and release eligible work against approved customer demand.

Step by step

  1. Review demand Manager

Manager checks the customer and item lines and approves the customer order for production planning. The planner uses an order marked Approved or Released. Agree this demand decision during setup so the floor knows which commitment it is serving.

    • Customer order moves from Draft to Approved after the demand decision
    • Updates Orders, Order lines, Parties
ApprovalA person approves before the work moves on.
  2. Prepare the route Production Planner

Production Planner links the product to its stations, sets the sequence and target takt, then uses Submit Station Route. The action rejects invalid references or conflicting sequences before saving and refreshing the station listing.

    • Valid route values are saved; station listing refreshes
    • Updates Station routes, Items, Resources
  3. Prepare the work Production Planner

Production Planner creates a Draft work order with the product, customer order, planned quantity and resource. The planner checks the intended start and end against the operating plan and reviews the resource's availability.

    • Draft work receives its production inputs
    • Updates Work orders, Orders, Resources
  4. Release eligible work Production Planner

Production Planner uses Release to Production. The action requires Draft work, an Approved or Released customer order, positive quantity, an Available resource and ordered planned dates. A refusal writes nothing; the planner corrects the failed input before retrying.

    • Eligible Draft work becomes Released
    • Updates Work orders, Orders, Resources
  5. Hand over the run Production Operator

Production Operator locates the released work in Assembly Schedule and confirms the intended product and station with the planner. Station capture and production reporting then follow the agreed floor procedure.

    • Operator checks the released plan
    • Updates Work orders, Station routes

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • A customer order remains Draft while the planner assumes that demand has been approved.
  • A resource is marked Maintenance after work was prepared. The release check requires the planner to resolve its availability.
  • A route change repeats a sequence already used for the product. Correct the conflict before submitting again.
