Correction and reversal

Step by step

  1. Identify the affected scope Inventory Supervisor

  2. Correct or cancel the request Inventory Supervisor

Use the authorized action to change the requested quantity or cancel eligible scope. Retain the context needed to explain the operating decision.

    • Updates Stock requests
  3. Release held reservations Inventory Supervisor

The correction or cancellation releases the request's Held reservations so that quantity becomes free for other eligible work. Review the resulting reservation state and free-stock calculation.

  4. Reverse a posted effect where required Inventory Supervisor

Inventory Supervisor uses the reversal action on the posted movement. It creates a compensating movement linked to the original and corrects the lot balance, leaving the original immutable.

    • Add compensation and correct balance
    • Updates Stock movements, Stock lots
  5. Inspect the remaining evidence Inventory Supervisor

Check the request, reservation and movement results together. An equivalent repeated reversal returns the existing compensating movement rather than changing the balance again.

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • Release confused with stock movement. Releasing a reservation changes free quantity. The posted movement trail still explains the on-hand balance.
  • Original posting edited. A reversal must leave the original movement immutable and identify it from the compensation.
  • Repeated reversal applied twice. Inspect the existing compensation before retrying a correction whose response was uncertain.
