Keys and references

Preserve the exact import field names. Orders.reservation number identifies the order, Guest references Customers, and Unit references Equipment. Arrival date is the order start date, departure date is the due date, guest count is its quantity and rate per night is its unit price. Confirm the business quantity unit before loading values.

Order items.Reservation, counter sales.Reservation, Payments.Reservation, special orders.Reservation and production tasks.Reservation all reference Orders. Special orders.guest count records its quantity. Price lists.nightly rate and minimum nights carry the unit price and minimum quantity; starts at and ends at define its effective period. Price lists.unit type is text, so map it deliberately rather than assuming a reference relationship.

Production tasks.assigned to references People, and People.User references Users. Resolve a signed-in person’s task queue through that identity link. Users also contains a User reference to Users; preserve the existing identity mapping when planning an import. Equipment uses unit code and unit number, while People uses person code and Customers uses party number.

Keep Payments.Reference for source reconciliation. Status values describe local lifecycle states; payment confirmation still needs its authoritative source evidence. Preserve exchange rates.ID, Currency, effective from, Rate and Overridden as the read-only rate records supplied to the app.

Migration order

  1. Map Users identities, then People.User and People.Active. Confirm that each operational account resolves to the intended person.
  2. Load Customers and Equipment with stable identifiers, capacities and the correct current equipment Status.
  3. Load price lists with explicit unit type mappings, effective dates, prices and quantity units. Retain the existing read-only exchange rates source.
  4. Load Orders using resolved Guest and Unit references. Check intervals and quantities before continuing active commitments.
  5. Load order items, counter sales and Payments against the correct Reservation. Reconcile original charges, voids and actual receipt states without duplicating source obligations.
  6. Load special orders and production tasks, resolving assigned to and Unit. Rehearse the confirmation, completion and cleaning cases before releasing the imported work.
