Application to credit decision

Prepare the request, examine its evidence and decide the exact revision.

Step by step

  1. Identify the borrower Credit Officer

App Administrator checks the legal entity and organization. Credit Officer selects the borrower and lending product for the request. Resolve an ambiguous borrower match before collecting documents, particularly when similar company names appear in different organizations.

    • Connect the request to its entity and product
    • Updates Borrowers, Loan products, Organizations
  2. Prepare the application Credit Officer

Credit Officer records the loan purpose, requested amount and term, then gathers attachments and evidence. Keep the application owner visible. Use the underwriting note to explain the request and the verification notes to identify questions that still need an answer.

    • Retain requested terms and source documents
    • Updates Loan applications, Application evidence, Record attachments
  3. Submit the revision Credit Officer

Credit Officer moves the application from Draft to Submitted. Independent Credit Approver examines that revision as review work progresses to Under review. A changed amount or replaced document needs to be visible before a decision is recorded.

    • Present the revision for review
    • Updates Loan applications, Operation receipts
  4. Decide credit Independent Credit Approver

Independent Credit Approver approves the amount, rate and term or declines with a reason. The underwriting workflow binds the decision to the exact revision and retains an operation receipt. An approval advances the application to Approved; a decline advances it to Declined.

    • Record approved terms or decline reason
    • Updates Loan applications, Operation receipts
ApprovalA person approves before the work moves on.
  5. Check the recorded decision Credit Officer

Independent Credit Approver checks the approved terms and approval date, or the decline reason, against the operation receipt. Credit Officer follows the agreed next action. Approved applications can enter the funding process; questions about a changed revision return to review before an eligible action is requested.

    • Confirm the decision and next action
    • Updates Loan applications, Operation receipts

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • Changed request. The reviewer approves an earlier amount while the preparer is editing the application. Compare the expected revision before executing the decision and return a stale request for review.
  • Unclear evidence. A document is attached but its verification remains Pending. Identify who resolves the question and retain the explanation with the evidence.
  • Wrong authority. A preparer can open the review queue but must still use the authorized decision route. Test the configured separation with ordinary role accounts.
