Keys and references

Use stable record identities when resolving references. A lot label is text on the inventory, issue and batch records; batch inputs.source lot is also text. Review those labels explicitly during import. A matching label alone does not create a database reference or establish a physical connection.

Map production logs.Operator to People and People.User to Users. Resolve the signed-in user’s People identity before applying My Production Logs. Do not compare names or assume the Users.Role select replaces the operating permission policy.

Keep Items.Unit and the entered batch units consistent. Separate locations when importing inventory balances, even where Item and lot number match. Preserve the existing Users identity and self-reference behavior when loading People rather than manufacturing new sign-in accounts from display names.

Migration order

  1. Establish Users identities, then People.User mappings, Items, Parties and Resources.
  2. Load customer Orders and their order lines, followed by purchase orders and purchase lines using resolved party and item references.
  3. Reconcile inventory balances by Item, Location and lot number before enabling material issues posting.
  4. Load work orders with valid Product, Order and Resource references. Preserve their actual lifecycle state.
  5. Load Batches against work orders, then batch inputs, batch outputs, material issues and production logs with their original context. Treat historical imports as data loading; agree explicitly whether any posting action should execute.
  6. Compare quantities and dispositions with the source, test the role mapping and rehearse a new production cycle before cutover.
