Lot to batch input

Post the physical withdrawal once and record the material evidence against the selected batch.

Step by step

  1. Identify the stock Operator

Operator checks the released work order and the item and lot being consumed. Review the location and on-hand quantity in Inventory by Lot. Use the item's unit when preparing the withdrawal quantity.

    • Identify the physical input
    • Updates Work orders, Items, Inventory balances
  2. Prepare the issue Operator

Operator enters a Draft material issue with the work order, item, lot, quantity and issue date. Compare the selected lot with the physical label before submitting the posting.

    • Prepare a Draft withdrawal
    • Updates Material issues
  3. Post the withdrawal Operator

Operator invokes the issue action. It validates the Draft posting, reduces the exact item and lot balance once and marks the issue Posted. Check that returned outcome before considering a retry.

    • Mark Posted and reduce the matching balance once
    • Updates Material issues, Inventory balances
  4. Prepare the batch Quality Reviewer

Quality Reviewer creates the batch with its work order and lot number and sets its disposition to Pending. Reuse that batch identity for each material contribution to the same run.

    • Create the Pending batch for this run
    • Updates Batches, Work orders
  5. Capture the batch input Operator

Operator selects the prepared batch and material and records the source lot, issued quantity and unit. The capture action resolves the references and validates the batch before saving the attributed evidence.

    • Save batch-specific material evidence
    • Updates Batch inputs, Batches, Items
  6. Check the connection Quality Reviewer

Quality Reviewer compares the batch input with the work order's posted issues. Investigate a different lot, unit or quantity before relying on the input during the accepted-output decision.

    • Compare source lots and quantities
    • Updates Batch inputs, Material issues, Work orders

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • A source lot is mistyped during input capture. Compare the original physical label and posted issue before correcting the evidence.
  • A delayed response prompts a second posting attempt. Check that retrying the same issue cannot withdraw stock again.
  • Input evidence is treated as another inventory movement. Reconcile the posting and attribution as separate parts of the same material event.
