Review and Follow-up

Resolve evidence questions, record the reviewer's decision and finish assigned donor actions.

Step by step

  1. Open the collection review Clinical Coordinator and Clinical Reviewer

The Clinical Coordinator moves the donation from In progress to Awaiting review. The Clinical Reviewer examines the collection, unit records and supporting evidence before deciding the outcome.

    • Place the donation in awaiting review and examine evidence
    • Updates Donations, Blood units, Laboratory tests
  2. Assign the unresolved question Clinical Coordinator or Licensed Clinician

    • Record Open, in progress or Escalated with an assignee
    • Updates Operation receipts
  3. Approve the collection outcome Clinical Reviewer and Licensed Clinician

The Clinical Reviewer decides whether the evidence supports completion. Keep an unresolved donation Awaiting review. The Licensed Clinician records the actual reviewer, reason and decision date and marks the review decision Signed after confirmation.

    • Record the reviewer's decision as Draft to Signed
    • Updates Review decisions

    • Record awaiting review to Completed
    • Updates Donations
  5. Finish the donor action Clinical Coordinator or Licensed Clinician

The Clinical Coordinator or Licensed Clinician records Completed with the action's completion date when the assigned work is finished. If the review decision later needs correction, the Licensed Clinician records an Amended decision with the reviewer's explanation.

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • A Signed state without a clear reason leaves another reviewer unable to understand the outcome. Check the explanation before recording the decision.
  • An assigned action can be completed while the collection still needs review. Examine both records during the closing discussion.
  • A reviewer and the person entering the decision have different responsibilities. Confirm the named reviewer before signing the recorded entry.
