What you can do

Reconciliation in daily work

Provider movements arrive with a source event ID, account, occurrence date and amount in US dollars. Each movement keeps its state as Unmatched, Matched or Exception and links a matched result to the instruction. A match requires the same financial account, exact amount and confirmed occurrence date. A close amount or neighboring date is not the same event.

Dated snapshots give the finance team provider ledger and available balances. The credit reviewer can inspect movements around a snapshot and compare them with confirmed instructions. Differences remain visible as exceptions for investigation. A source event ID lets the reviewer recognize the same provider movement when checking recorded effects.

The reconciliation result also informs operation receipt review. If a receipt claims an effect that local records do not contain, the team investigates the result. The team can inspect the receipt, movement and provider evidence together before deciding what happened. Auditor has a read-only trail of the instruction, source movement and recorded resolution.

How the work is organized

  • Identify the movement. Keep its provider event ID, account, occurrence date and amount.
  • Compare exact facts. Credit Reviewer checks account, amount and confirmed occurrence date before recording a match.
  • Investigate differences. Leave a mismatch visible with the snapshot and receipt used in the review.

What to agree during setup

Agree how provider files or feeds supply event IDs, dates, amounts and account IDs. Decide the period and account scope for each reconciliation pass. Keep the exact-match rule visible to staff: the amount, occurrence date and account must agree with a confirmed instruction before a movement is marked Matched.

Define who investigates an Exception and how a corrected provider event is captured. Also decide how the team reviews opening and closing snapshot balances. A discrepancy should keep its source identity and investigation history, rather than being forced into a nearby instruction.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Use a confirmed instruction and a provider movement with the same account, amount and occurrence date. The reviewer matches them and can show the instruction and source event behind the result. Then change only the date in another movement. It should remain Unmatched or become Exception for investigation.

Bring in a dated snapshot and compare its ledger balance with the movements in the period. Ask the auditor to trace an exception from the snapshot and movement to the confirmed instruction and any related receipt. The team should have a clear owner and next action for the difference.

What your team sees
