How do I get started?
Click Get started, then use Proto to configure BOM Management for your business. Pilot a real assembly revision, component lines and a customer order with an available resource. Rehearse a change request and the separate quality decision before using live production work.
What belongs to a BOM revision?
A BOM revision identifies product, revision, effective start and effective end. Each component line links the component items with quantity per assembly, unit and scrap percentage. Keep those lines attached to the intended editable parent while preparing the structure for review.
Does submitting a revision release it?
The revision workflow moves an eligible Draft structure to Review once. Configure Manager’s release decision during setup so the manager can authorize use after checking the assembly. Treat Review as work awaiting that decision.
Can I change a released component structure?
The component workflow blocks validation against a Released parent. Prepare the replacement on an editable revision and route it through review. Keep the old released structure available for work whose existing instructions still use it.
Who approves an engineering change?
The approver on an engineering change request identifies the person responsible for deciding it. The submission guard resolves that person and moves the request to Review; it does not approve it. Agree Manager’s decision permissions before go-live, then record Approved or Rejected after the person decides.
How do we hand a revision to production?
Production Planner checks the released structure against the planned product and customer demand. Agree where the operator finds the assembly instructions and who replaces earlier instructions after a release decision. Rehearse a run near the revision change date.
What blocks production release?
The release guard requires Draft work, positive planned quantity, an approved linked order, an available resource and feasible dates. Production resources at Maintenance or Unavailable cannot satisfy the availability condition. Review the production window with the people running the resource.
How do we keep material issues and stock aligned?
The issue workflow checks eligible work, positive quantity and an identified item and lot, then posts once. Agree balance maintenance with the stock owner or connect the authoritative stock source. Reconcile a posted issue against that source during the pilot.
When can a batch be released?
Quality Reviewer considers inspected output when batch disposition is Pending and the linked work has reached Quality review. The release guard sets Released once. Good units on a production interval describe reported output and cannot substitute for the reviewer’s inspection decision.
What should we check during setup?
Agree the action permissions for Production Planner, Production Operator and Quality Reviewer. Identify Manager for engineering decisions and Admin for master data. Rehearse the account-to-person mapping and each role’s operating views with different accounts. Use Business Overview to introduce the production and revision-review handoffs.
