Operations improvement
An operations improvement team needs to distinguish a redesigned process from a changed assumption. Business Process Modeler ties each model revision to a scenario and records node observations, review decisions and simulation runs separately. That gives the team a way to compare the old and new path without losing the decision trail behind either result.
How Business Process Modeler is set up for you
Baseline
Record the current ordered work and its observed node outcomes under a named model revision.
Change
Create a successor revision for altered sequence or input assumptions and validate it as its own case.
Verification
Check each run's step trace and external receipt before calling the modeled effect successful.
An operations improvement team needs to distinguish a redesigned process from a changed assumption. Business Process Modeler ties each model revision to a scenario and records node observations, review decisions and simulation runs separately. That gives the team a way to compare the old and new path without losing the decision trail behind either result.
Choose one process with a measurable cycle time. The Process Owner should state what change the team wants to inspect, such as moving a review step before a specialist handoff. The Model Designer maps the baseline and proposed sequence, keeping source record IDs and source references for each observed node. Keep scenario assumptions clear so the difference between runs can be interpreted.
Ask the Independent Reviewer to examine the exact revision after validation. A returned decision should have a reason the designer can act on. Once a reviewed revision is run, inspect the operation key, step results and receipt evidence with the Simulation Operator. Compare cycle time and node outcomes only after both results are tied to their respective revisions and assumptions.
Include a correction rehearsal. If an executed result needs to be superseded, retain the prior revision, record the compensating step and assign verification work. The reviewer should be able to explain what happened first, what changed and whether the external effect was confirmed. That exercise establishes a useful standard for future improvement work.
Features to start with
Roles on the team
- Process Owner
- Owns a model revision and decides when it is ready for validation.
- Model Designer
- Maps process nodes and maintains scenario-linked model details.
- Simulation Operator
- Runs reviewed revisions and examines the operation trace.
- Independent Reviewer
- Reviews a specific revision and its recorded evidence.
- Evidence Steward
- Checks external receipts and resolves assigned verification work.
