The system
Does accepting a certificate release the instrument?
Certificate acceptance records the Metrology Reviewer’s assessment of the evidence. A correctly reported failure can be accepted while the instrument remains held. Quality Manager release is a separate decision against the current evidence and every unresolved restriction.
Can we use our external calibration laboratory?
Bring external laboratory certificates into the same review process as internal work. Keep the provider, service scope and original evidence together, with file or portal connections configured for your laboratory.
Can measurements be corrected?
Corrections append a linked record with a reason and preserve the original observation. Submitted evidence and accepted certificate files cannot be silently overwritten. A revised certificate may require dependent decisions to be reviewed again.
Who owns technical and quality decisions?
Your qualified reviewers select the applicable methods, assess measurement evidence and authorise release. Calibration Management keeps those decisions connected to their supporting records. Laboratory accreditation and regulatory obligations remain with your organisation and its service providers.
Does an impact assessment automatically issue a recall?
The assessment identifies potentially affected use and records its disposition or escalation. Product withdrawal, customer notification and recall execution remain in the customer’s authorized quality process. The calibration app tracks evidence and acknowledgements.
Processes and approvals
How do I get started?
Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Calibration Management for your business. Bring the instrument register, approved methods, current certificates and named decision owners. Choose the first instrument group and configure the approval steps around the way your team works.
How does it connect the calibration record?
Follow an instrument from its approved method and due date through original measurements, certificate review and release history. When a result raises a concern, connect the investigation to earlier use records and the quality decisions that follow.
Does the system choose our calibration interval?
The coordinator proposes an interval with evidence, and the independent Metrology Reviewer approves it. There is no universal default claimed as a NIST requirement. Changes apply prospectively and retain previous obligations.
What happens when as-found results fail?
The instrument remains restricted and the quality team assesses potentially affected historical use. A later satisfactory result does not close that investigation by itself. Missing use history must receive explicit treatment.
Can an agent approve a hold release?
An assistant can prepare evidence for review. It cannot bypass the independent Quality Manager decision, make up missing evidence or use administrative access as approval authority.
