Calibration Execution
Capture as-found and as-left measurements without losing the original observations.
Preserve the condition that arrived
The execution workspace starts with the identified instrument and the method revision attached to its calibration order. The Calibration Technician records condition on receipt, required reference standards and the measurement environment. Starting the job raises a calibration hold so the instrument cannot appear available while its condition is being evaluated.
As-found observations describe the instrument before adjustment. They remain separate from as-left observations recorded after adjustment or repair. A later satisfactory result must not replace the evidence that prompted an investigation. Adjustment details explain what changed between those phases and allow the reviewer to understand why another measurement set was required.

Capture the measurement with its context
Each result identifies the method point, measured phase, observation time, reference value, instrument indication and unit. The record also includes expanded uncertainty, coverage factor and supporting evaluation evidence. These are method-specific technical inputs; the application must not fill them with invented defaults to make a form appear complete.
- Require method points belonging to the order’s frozen method revision.
- Keep reference and indicated values in compatible declared units.
- Retain original observations when a transcription needs correction.
- Record the person and time responsible for each measurement.
- Make missing coverage or unresolved evaluation visible to the reviewer.
EnvironmentalReadings captures the conditions required by the method, with a source log when available. The system records whether those conditions meet the method requirements. It does not prescribe temperature limits, stabilization times or a physical measurement technique for every instrument family.
Apply the approved decision rule
A tolerance comparison alone is not a substitute for the agreed decision rule. CalibrationPlans selects the exact DecisionRules revision used to evaluate the result. That revision explains acceptance boundaries, uncertainty treatment and borderline outcomes. Reviewed manual evaluation remains available where there is no validated calculation implementation.
If automatic evaluation is configured, its implementation and test evidence must match the approved rule. Until then, results remain NotEvaluated. Failed, indeterminate or incomplete evidence cannot be converted into a passing result by a technician changing a summary field. Measurement Review exposes those states for technical evaluation.

Submit a stable evidence set
Once the technician submits the job, its measurement set becomes immutable. A correction appends a linked observation with a reason and preserves the original. The reviewer should be able to determine which observation was superseded, who made the correction and whether the certificate also needs a new revision.
An external laboratory may provide a certificate without every raw observation. The coordinator records that limitation against the agreed evidence requirements and sends it for review. Missing data must remain missing until obtained; it must never be reconstructed from a rounded summary or copied from another instrument’s job. Acceptance depends on the provider contract and technical review, not on the upload succeeding.
