Process steps
Follow the process from start to finish. Select a step to see who acts and what changes.
Register the instrument
Calibration Coordinator records identity, range and custody. Pending qualification remains visible until the required evidence is reviewed. Reused legacy numbers or uncertain serial matches go through reconciliation before they become operating identities.
Prepare the plan
Calibration Coordinator selects an approved method and decision rule, records an interval rationale and identifies the service arrangement. External work must fit the provider's reviewed services; internal work needs the method's competence prerequisites.
Approve the obligation
An independent Metrology Reviewer approves the plan revision, interval and intended scope. The decision preserves earlier versions. An incomplete plan returns for preparation without granting temporary availability.
Schedule and recall
Calibration Coordinator books the job and agrees start and return dates with the custodian. Calibration Schedule exposes the scheduled downtime. Reminder delivery is operational assistance; the current plan remains authoritative if a message is missed.
Receive and restrict
Calibration Technician checks physical identity and condition at receipt, starts the order and records the calibration hold. If the due date has already passed, the overdue hold remains separately visible and any intervening use needs assessment.

When the process needs attention
- exception An appointment date is mistakenly treated as a new calibration due date.
- exception An external provider is selected without checking the requested measurement scope.
- exception A shared instrument has no custodian who can arrange its physical return.
- change A plan revision hides that the instrument was already overdue under the previous obligation.

Groups current approved plans by location and criticality, showing overdue instruments and unresolved holds without counting superseded plans.
Agent support
An assistant cannot invent measurement results, uncertainty values or missing use history. It cannot approve its principal's own preparation, assert accreditation, release a held instrument or issue a product recall. Human decisions must use authenticated authority and the server-enforced controls specified for the application.
