Multi-clinician practice
In a practice where more than one clinician may see a patient, the patient record provides continuity while each encounter keeps its own clinician and timing. Care-team assignments describe who is active for a patient and why. The Clinical Lead can review a visit without losing the identity of the note author, observation recorder or prescription prescriber.
How Clinic Management is set up for you
Shared patient
Keep one patient number while recording separate encounters for each visit.
Named access
Use Active care-team assignments with purpose and effective dates.
Clear ownership
Assign care tasks to one person and review escalations separately.
Visit review
Inspect linked notes and orders before moving an encounter to Completed.

Choose a common visit type and work it with two clinicians on different days. Confirm that the second clinician can locate the patient and their own encounter without editing the first clinician's note. Agree who changes care-team assignments and how ended assignments are handled. Create a follow-up task for one clinician and make sure it appears in My Care Tasks for the intended person. Then rehearse an escalation and ask the Clinical Lead to find it. Review the charge and payment record for the same patient so staff understand the distinction between encounter charges and patient receipts. Use the two visits to confirm that each observation and prescription order also stays with the clinician's intended encounter. Ask the front desk to identify the correct visit when the patient calls about a later appointment.
