How the model is organised

Spend and allocation

Cloud cost lines holds daily amounts. Cloud accounts and account cost centers carry account ownership and allocation rules.

Service context

Services, Assets and People identify the operating owner and affected resource.

Investigation

Spend alerts and cost anomaly events lead into Incidents, incident updates and cost event log.

Optimization

Optimization recommendations, Changes, change approval reviews, optimization deployments and optimization verifications keep proposal, decision and result distinct.

Data operations

Integration receipts, cost ingestion runs, data freshness checks and data export runs show whether cost evidence arrived and was checked.

Keys and references

Each daily cost line records its provider, cloud account, service name, usage date, cost center and amount. Its operational reference points to an incident when an investigation is needed. Incidents reference a service, asset and assigned person. Recommendations can refer to the same incident. A change approval review references its change and reviewer; a deployment references the affected service. A deployment references a service, while a verification references a cluster; neither directly references a change or recommendation. Match the service, workload and time period before comparing their results.

Migration order

  1. Load Users and People, then assign the service and account owners.
  2. Load Services, Assets, cloud accounts and cost model templates.
  3. Set account cost centers and any asset cost center allocations.
  4. Import cloud cost lines with stable account, service and usage date values.
  5. Add alerts, anomalies and incidents, followed by updates and recommendations.
  6. Add changes, decisions, deployments and savings checks after their owners are ready.
