- Cloud Cost Management
- Who it's for
- Cloud platform teams
Cloud platform teams
Platform teams often own shared cloud accounts while service teams own the workloads that create the spend. Cloud Cost Management gives those groups an account inventory, daily charge evidence and a service record for investigations. The platform owner can explain where data arrived and the service owner can explain why usage changed.
How Cloud Cost Management is set up for you
Account ownership
Register each cloud account with its owner, console reference and renewal date.
Shared allocation
Record the cost center rule and review cycle before shared spend enters a management report.
Change control
Route a capacity saving through a planned change with a reviewer and rollback plan.
Data checks
Compare ingestion outcomes and source freshness before interpreting a quiet charge period.
Platform teams often own shared cloud accounts while service teams own the workloads that create the spend. Cloud Cost Management gives those groups an account inventory, daily charge evidence and a service record for investigations. The platform owner can explain where data arrived and the service owner can explain why usage changed.
Begin with a single provider account that supports a known service. Load a recent billing period and review a daily increase against the service owner. Set an allocation rule and confirm the first cost center total. Then choose an underused resource, estimate a saving and rehearse a change review. The approver needs the risk, time window and rollback plan; the platform engineer needs to know what to record after deployment. Later charges can confirm whether the expected saving appeared.
The team should agree who can close an incident and who can mark a change Verified. Those are different decisions. An explanation of the charge can be complete before enough usage history exists to verify the saving.
