What you can do
Show what supports the case
Matter events holds the line detail observed against a matter. A line can carry a description, observed date, amount, quantity, source reference, submitted date and outcome. It belongs to its parent matter, allowing the coordinator to preserve detail without turning every observation into a separate case. The line number and source record identifier help a reviewer compare an imported or transcribed line with the source material.
Record attachments holds the supporting file, document date, external reference and verification state. Each attachment also points to its source matter and a verifying team member. That connection lets the Supervising Attorney examine the material behind the case revision. Verification is a separate recorded state; a file appearing on the matter does not say that anyone checked its source or contents.
How the work is organized
- Line detail. Record the observation or document line against its parent matter with the source reference and date used to identify it.
- Supporting files. Attach the document to the matter with its title, document date and external reference.
- Verification. Give the named verifier a clear item to check before the case moves to independent review.
What to agree during setup
Agree which source identifiers must travel with each event line, how line numbers are assigned, and how the review decision settles a pending outcome. Decide what qualifies as a verified attachment and who may record that verification. If the legal team receives material through another system, agree how its stable external reference is carried into the case. Keep the source material and its date distinguishable from the date a staff member uploaded it.
Imagine a filing matter with several document lines. The coordinator records each line under the case, adds the supporting attachment and notes the external reference supplied by the document source. A verifier checks the file and records the verification. The reviewer then sees the pending lines and attached material tied to the same case. The review decision settles event outcomes, and a rejected line remains visible with its decision reason.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Open the case workspace and compare the event strip with the attachment list. Confirm the parent/source matter links and the source references before relying on a line in review. Look at a pending event and an unverified document to see which action belongs to which person. If the matter revision changes after a reviewer decision, use the revision and evidence reference on the new decision to identify what the reviewer actually considered.
This is also a useful migration check. A row with a recognizable description but no stable source record identifier is difficult to distinguish from a duplicate. A file without a source matter may look present in a general attachment list while remaining absent from the case under review. Reconcile these links before opening the next review cycle.
