How a CPQ for Data Center Infrastructure rollout works

Configure the quoting rules and rehearse a rack expansion offer from draft to handoff.

  1. Define the pilot

Choose a known customer and a rack expansion offer with cabinet and installation lines. Agree the required rack evidence and identify the Quote Specialist and independent Pricing Reviewer.

  2. Prepare scope and access

App Administrator checks customer eligibility and organization membership. Admin supports the account mapping and access rehearsal, including an out-of-scope customer and a restricted attachment.

  3. Agree revisions and pricing

Define how quote and line revisions are prepared, how the price book is identified and how line discounts are entered. Rehearse the USD arithmetic before the first review request.

  4. Configure the decisions

Agree the rack requirement review, quote approval and Return procedure. Test reviewer independence and stale-revision handling with different accounts. Define the validity boundary used for acceptance.

  5. Connect the handoff

Configure the downstream order destination and map the accepted quote lines. Inspect a real external response, then rehearse an unavailable connection and a repeated request.

  6. Review reconciliation and changes

Compare operation results with the quote and decision evidence. Agree how to handle corrections to executed scope while retaining the original accepted offer and authorization history.

What the customer provides

Bring the customer directory, quoting owners and a representative rack requirement sheet. Provide the source of the unit prices and the rule for identifying its revision. Name the order-system owner and arrange connection access through the approved sign-in process. Explain how customer acceptance is evidenced and how the team interprets the validity date.

Changing it afterwards

Rehearse changes to pricing, access or revision handling against the pilot before extending them to the portfolio. Review the effect on existing accepted offers and operation keys. Keep the earlier decision context available when a later correction changes the commercial outcome. Agree any new engineering checks with the responsible technical team before adding them to the quoting procedure.
