What you can do

Put the requested rack conditions in view

A commercial offer for data center infrastructure needs a readable account of the rack requirements it addresses. The Quote Specialist records the rack type, power demand in kW and requested rack units. The required date gives the team a point for discussing timing. The configuration links to the parent quote and operating organization so the reviewer can see which offer the evidence supports.

Use supporting files to explain the customer’s requirements and the engineering assumptions the team has agreed to examine. The Pricing Reviewer reads that material before deciding whether to approve the configuration. Keep the rack requirement discussion connected to the quote, while treating the commercial pricing decision as its own review step.

How the work is organized

  • Requirement record. The Quote Specialist prepares the rack type and requested power and space values. Record the required date and check the parent quote before submitting the configuration.
  • Configuration review. A Submitted configuration gives the Pricing Reviewer a defined item to examine. Record the resulting state and decision date under the team’s agreed review procedure.
  • Supporting evidence. Attach the relevant customer requirement or engineering document to the quote. Use a title that lets the reviewer find the material for the configuration being discussed.

What to agree during setup

Agree what rack type means in the team’s quoting vocabulary and how power and rack units are measured. Decide which document explains the permissible engineering limits for the proposed offer and who maintains that document. Set a review procedure that checks those assumptions against the recorded request before a configuration is approved.

Also agree how the team handles a requirement change after review. Check the configuration revision and the quote under discussion before recording another decision. Define when Approved and Completed are appropriate for a configuration, and who may make those changes. The reviewer should explain the requirement decision independently of any change to line prices or the quote’s commercial state.

Check the handoff on an actual case

A customer requests a cabinet with a stated power demand and rack-unit requirement for an expansion date. The Quote Specialist records those values and links the configuration to the draft offer. Attach the customer’s requirement sheet and the engineering support the team intends to use during review.

Ask the Pricing Reviewer to locate the evidence and explain how it supports the recorded power and space request. Then change the requested power in a rehearsal revision. The reviewer should identify the changed configuration and decide whether further evidence is needed before approval. Check the quote total separately after the configuration review so the team understands which decision controls requirements and which decision controls the commercial offer.

What your team sees

  • Draft Rack Configurations — Prepare the rack requirements linked to each quote.
  • Submitted Rack Configurations — Inspect configurations waiting for a requirement decision.
  • Rack Requirements — Follow required dates within the coming week, including earlier dates needing attention.

Follow the work through

Start with quote and rack preparation and carry the requirement decision into pricing and independent review.
