What you can do

Price the draft the reviewer will see

Quote Specialist prepares the commercial offer as a draft with numbered lines. Each line records its product code, quantity, USD unit price, USD discount and USD unit cost. The quote records the price book revision and expected commercial revision used by the pricing action. The reviewer should be able to trace the total back to those line inputs.

The pricing calculation multiplies each quantity by its USD unit price and subtracts the line’s USD discount. It writes the net line amount and sums the result into the quote’s net USD amount. A successful pricing action moves the draft into Review. The total and lifecycle transition belong to the guarded action, with scope and revision checks applied before the calculation proceeds.

How the work is organized

  • Commercial inputs. Quote Specialist prepares product codes, quantities and price inputs for the machine and its separately priced options. The discount is a USD amount for the line. Check its interpretation before importing existing quotes; the calculation subtracts that amount from the extended line value.
  • Pricing context. The draft identifies a price book revision alongside the quote revision. Agree how the team selects the price input and records its source during setup. The pricing request must address the explicit draft the specialist is working on and the revision currently being prepared.
  • Reviewable output. Net line values roll into the quote total through the pricing action. Pricing Reviewer then reads the quoted economics and evidence for that revision. A failed pricing request needs its inputs corrected through the authorized preparation path before it is submitted again.

What to agree during setup

Agree which product codes the commercial team uses and how USD prices and costs arrive in the draft. Confirm the discount convention with the reviewer and test the numeric inputs used in imports. Define how a changed price source affects the recorded price book revision and the next pricing request.

Keep ownership clear when a machine option changes. Quote Specialist updates the commercial draft and its evidence, then requests pricing again for the authorized revision. Pricing Reviewer should receive the offer the customer will actually be asked to accept.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Rehearse a line for two machines at a USD unit price of 48,000 with a USD line discount of 3,000. The expected net line amount is USD 93,000. Add a separate option line for USD 5,000 with no discount and check that the quote total becomes USD 98,000.

Submit the pricing action with the current expected revision and confirm the quote moves into Review. Repeat with an outdated revision and inspect the operation outcome. The older request must not overwrite the prepared offer. Try a malformed price input as a separate rehearsal and confirm that the action reports the validation problem before releasing a priced quote.
