What you can do
Make the site scope visible during quoting
A solar quote needs a clear statement of the site and design being discussed. Quote Specialist records the site address, required-by date, panel count and design capacity in kilowatts on the linked design input. The record belongs to the quote and selling organization, so the team can review the design demand in its commercial context.
The design input carries its own status and revision. Set up its submission, independent review and completion procedure for your solar team during configuration. Keep each decision tied to the design revision being discussed. A change to the commercial offer goes through the quote’s pricing and approval process.
How the work is organized
- Site identity. The address identifies the site covered by the design input. Quote Specialist checks it against the customer conversation before the reviewer considers the scope.
- Design quantities. Panel count and design capacity summarize the proposed solar scope. Supporting files provide the context the reviewer needs to understand those entries.
- Design revision. Status, revision and decision date distinguish preparation from reviewed work. The team uses the agreed design review procedure to identify exactly which scope was considered.
What to agree during setup
Agree who prepares the design quantities and what documents the reviewer needs. If an engineering tool supplies the layout or capacity information, establish how its output is attached to the quote and identified during review. Keep the responsible engineering team’s calculations in that agreed handoff.
Define what the required-by date means for the design team. It might represent when the sales specialist needs the reviewed scope to finish a proposal. Everyone should apply the same meaning before using the Design Worklist to discuss upcoming demand.
Confirm who acts as the independent reviewer and how a changed panel count or site address is handled after submission. Choose the evidence that reviewer must inspect before deciding. After a design change, Quote Specialist checks whether the quantities or prices on the commercial offer need a new revision and sends any revised offer through pricing and review.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Prepare a design input for a customer site with 20 panels and a stated capacity of 8 kilowatts. Attach the design document used by the team, then have Pricing Reviewer identify the site and revision under consideration. The reviewer should be able to explain which document supports the recorded scope and whether the proposed design needs clarification.
Submit the design using the agreed procedure and record the decision against its current revision. Try a decision request carrying an older revision and confirm that the current design remains unchanged. After an approved design reaches completion, compare the parent quote amount and state with their earlier values. Any change to the commercial offer must be handled through the quote’s own pricing and approval process.
