What you can do
Close the sales discussion with a supported decision
Relationship Owner submits verified acceptance or loss evidence when the customer outcome is ready to record. Sales Manager independently verifies the exact stored opportunity revision before the closing action proceeds. Won retains the winning date, while Lost retains a reason that explains the customer’s outcome.
The close preserves the earlier expected USD value and activity evidence. That history lets the team compare what it expected with how the discussion ended. A proposal submission or completed follow-up can be part of the supporting story, but neither one establishes the customer’s final decision by itself.
How the work is organized
- Verified customer evidence. Relationship Owner identifies the acceptance or loss evidence for the closing request. Attach the supporting files and retain the relevant activity outcomes so the reviewer can understand what the customer actually decided.
- Independent revision review. Sales Manager reviews the exact stored revision after the owner submits the request. A decision on an earlier version cannot silently authorize closure of changed opportunity content.
- Retained history. The reviewed outcome adds the winning date or loss reason while keeping the expected value and earlier activities. Corrections to executed scope use the authorized compensation process with the original evidence preserved.
What to agree during setup
Agree what the team accepts as verified customer acceptance and what makes a loss reason useful. A short explanation should still distinguish the actual customer decision from the owner’s prediction. Identify an eligible independent Sales Manager for the pilot, including an alternative when the usual manager helped prepare the revision.
Decide what happens after a reviewed Won outcome. If accounting, delivery or another system takes responsibility for the next business action, configure that connection and agree its confirmation evidence. The CRM closes the sales opportunity; the receiving system remains responsible for its own records and effects. Include the correction path in this agreement so later changes can be explained without rewriting the original sale.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Rehearse an opportunity for a recurring service package. Relationship Owner submits the customer’s acceptance evidence against the current revision. Sales Manager checks the evidence independently and approves the eligible Won outcome. Compare the expected USD value and activity history before and after closing, and confirm the winning date.
Repeat with a customer who declines the proposal. Record the actual reason for the Lost outcome and retain the earlier discussions and commitments. Attempt a close using an older revision and another using the preparer’s review identity. Neither request should establish a valid independent outcome. Ask Auditor to reconstruct both cases from the records without relying on a separate verbal explanation.
