Enrollment and execution

Trace audience eligibility into a member cursor and inspect the outcome of each due action.

Step by step

  1. Evaluate entry Marketing Operations

Marketing Operations checks the inbound profile against every audience condition for an Active program. Connect the CRM profile feed using a stable lead identifier and rehearse the combined conditions. A lead that matches only part of the audience must not enter.

    • Combined audience checked
    • Updates Programs, Program audiences, Lists, Leads
  2. Create enrollment Marketing Operations

An eligible lead receives a member record with its enrollment time, program and first ordered step. The next-run time identifies the work to execute. Capacity permits Active enrollment or produces Queued enrollment at the limit. Global suppression bars re-entry regardless of the program's re-entry setting.

    • Active or Queued enrollment under capacity
    • Updates Members, Programs, Unsubscribes
  3. Execute due work Marketing Operations

Marketing Operations supervises the execution workflow, which scans due Active members every five minutes. It advances each member through a step and records the execution history and cursor timing. Inspect the action selected by the step, including a wait or either branch path.

    • Cursor and action evidence recorded
    • Updates Members, Program steps, Member step history
  4. Inspect the result Marketing Operations

Marketing Operations follows the recorded outcome and error detail back to the member and step. Check the branch destination against the intended sequence. For an email action, compare the rendered message and the connected service result before resolving an exception or continuing.

    • Outcome or error investigated
    • Updates Member step history, Members
  5. Review completion or exit Marketing Operations

At the final step, a member becomes Completed when no next-run time, achieved goal or other exit applies. A goal or exit rule produces the separate Exited state with its outcome. Marketing Operations keeps those results distinct during operating review.

    • Completed distinguished from Exited
    • Updates Members, Program exit rules, Goals

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • A cursor is adjusted before the corresponding history is read.
  • Queued work is left without an operating review of capacity.
  • A prepared message is treated as a successful sending result.
  • Final-step completion is confused with achieving the program's goal.
