Customer Outcome Review

Review the acceptance or loss evidence before closing an opportunity and retaining its commercial history.

Step by step

  1. Prepare the outcome evidence Relationship Owner

Relationship Owner brings the verified acceptance or loss basis to the opportunity. Keep the relevant activity outcomes and files attached to that relationship so the reviewer can follow the customer discussion.

    • Acceptance or loss basis stays with the relationship
    • Updates Opportunities, Relationship activities, Record attachments
  2. Submit the version for review Relationship Owner

Relationship Owner presents the exact opportunity version to be closed. Check the assigned owner, organization and existing expected value before asking for a decision.

    • Review targets the exact opportunity version
    • Updates Opportunities, Team members, Organizations
  3. Approve the outcome Sales Manager

Sales Manager verifies the evidence and the submitted version. A successful outcome needs acceptance evidence and a won date; a lost outcome needs a useful loss reason.

    • Reviewer decides against the supplied evidence
    • Updates Review decisions, Opportunities, Record attachments
ApprovalA person approves before the work moves on.
  4. Record the close Relationship Owner

Record Won with the won date or Lost with the loss reason. Preserve the earlier expected value and relationship history. Keep the closed opportunity outside the open weighted forecast.

    • Won date or loss reason is retained with prior history
    • Updates Opportunities, Relationship activities
  5. Review the retained history Relationship Owner

Relationship Owner and Sales Manager use the recorded outcome in the sales review. Any later correction follows the authorized correction path; ordinary activity logging refuses closed opportunities.

    • Later review preserves the original closing evidence
    • Updates Opportunities, Review decisions, Operation receipts

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • Call mistaken for acceptance. A completed call attachment supplies relationship evidence. Check the actual customer acceptance before closing Won.
  • Missing closing fact. A successful close needs its won date, while a lost close needs the loss reason that explains the outcome.
  • Closed value in the open forecast. Retain historical expected value for review while excluding Won and Lost from the open weighted population.
