Subscription businesses
Subscription businesses need to understand what the customer has agreed to buy now and what continues into the next term. A deal may combine recurring products, usage and one-time work, with different billing and commission bases. CRM specifies those commercial relationships and the evidence that carries them from an accepted agreement into renewal.
How CRM is set up for you
Describe the offer precisely
Preserve the product, charge type, term, currency and accepted line values. Recurring, one-time and usage-based amounts have different meanings. Annualized contract value needs an explicit calculation; it cannot be inferred by treating every order total as annual recurring revenue.
Generate the right obligation once
Contract cycles identify the agreed service period and billing basis. Eligible usage comes from retained source records and units, with the agreed cutoff and pricing revision. Repeated generation or signature callbacks cannot create a second order or bill for the same accepted scope.
Keep delivery and billing connected
Record provisioning or fulfilment evidence for the relevant line and quantity. Partial delivery does not make the entire agreement billable. CRM’s commercial and receivables history stays distinguishable from the accounting system’s revenue-recognition policy and acceptance.
Renew the continuing business
Retain the prior term, notice conditions and successor agreement. Separate the continuing recurring base from an uplift, expansion or one-time charge. Cancellation and non-renewal decisions suppress obsolete renewal work, while an auto-renew path follows the actual accepted terms and applicable approval policy.
Explain the commission result
Freeze the plan, credited earner share, quota period and calculation basis used for the earning. A deal crossing an accelerator threshold needs the defined treatment of each portion. Reviewed statement totals remain intact after payment, and a later cancellation or credit produces an attributable adjustment instead of rewriting the paid history.
