Post the stock effect and verify it

Execute approved scope once and compare the saved movement with the authorized quantity.

Step by step

  1. Check the approved request Inventory Clerk

Inventory Clerk confirms the current authorized scope, selected lot and the sign convention for the stock action. Resolve item or location questions before changing inventory.

    • Confirm authorized quantity and context
    • Updates Stock requests, Stock lots, Review decisions
  2. Post the movement Inventory Clerk

Inventory Clerk executes the Approved request. The action writes a Posted movement, applies the signed quantity to the lot balance and moves the request to Executed with a recorded receipt.

    • Apply signed effect and mark request Executed
    • Updates Stock movements, Stock lots, Stock requests, Operation receipts
  3. Inspect the result Inventory Clerk

Inventory Clerk compares the movement with the lot's before-and-after balance. The stable source effect identity lets a repeated request return the saved effect without applying it again.

    • Confirm the saved balance change
    • Updates Stock movements, Stock lots, Operation receipts
  4. Verify quantity Inventory Supervisor

Inventory Supervisor reconciles the posted movements with the authorized request quantity. A matching result supports verification; a mismatch produces a Failed receipt and leaves the request unchanged.

    • Record verified evidence or mismatch failure
    • Updates Stock requests, Stock movements, Operation receipts
  5. Trace completion Auditor

Auditor follows the decision, movement and receipt evidence. Physical departure and staging records provide operating context while the posted effects establish the quantity result.

    • Read the supporting evidence chain
    • Updates Review decisions, Stock movements, Operation receipts

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • Wrong quantity sign. Agree how the selected action represents the intended inventory effect before execution.
  • Repeated posting. Use the saved source effect identity to investigate a retry; the same work must not change stock twice.
  • Unexplained mismatch. A failed verification needs comparison with the approved scope and actual posted effects before another action.
