Who it's for

Managed infrastructure teams

A managed infrastructure team may be responsible for several active services and the assets behind them. Data Center Management ties each service to an owner and criticality, then links incidents, changes, requests and problems to that service. The team can follow immediate response and longer investigation without merging them into one record.

How Data Center Management is set up for you

Incident response

Keep affected service and asset, assignee, priority and dated updates together.

Change control

Review risk, the scheduled window and rollback instructions before implementation.

Problem follow-up

Give each longer investigation a service and named owner.

Event review

Use receipt identity and processing state to reconcile incoming events.

A managed infrastructure team may be responsible for several active services and the assets behind them. Data Center Management ties each service to an owner and criticality, then links incidents, changes, requests and problems to that service. The team can follow immediate response and longer investigation without merging them into one record.

Choose one service with a known owner and active equipment. Enter its asset register, then rehearse an incident from opening through acknowledgment and update. Have the coordinator check the assignment and priority, while the coordinator records the actual acknowledgment time. Keep the linked service and asset intact as the incident advances.

Next plan a change for that service. The Change Manager should be able to see the planned window and rollback text together in review. Try a complete plan and an incomplete plan to establish the decision boundary. Create a problem record for a recurring issue and give it an owner. If external events are in scope, agree the provider name and stable external event identity before connecting the sender. Compare received, applied, rejected and failed outcomes during a supervised pilot.
