How the model is organised
Patient intake and consent
Patients identifies the person and assigned dentist; Consents holds purpose-specific documents and dates.
Appointments and charting
Appointments links Patient and Dentist; chart notes and clinical measurements reference the visit and the person contributing evidence.
Clinical governance
Clinical privileges records professional evidence, provider assignments records care responsibility, and People links staff to Users.
Lab case tracking
Lab cases links the processing state and laboratory case reference to Appointments.
Prescription dispensations
Prescription dispensations links a recorded medication quantity and lot to Appointment and authorized by.
Charges and follow-up
Procedure charges references Appointments, while Payments and treatment tasks reference Patients. Exchange rates supplies read-only effective rates without adding currency fields to those financial records.

Keys and references
Preserve the exact reference targets. Patients.assigned dentist, Appointments.Dentist and provider assignments.Dentist all point to People. People.User points to Users. Resolve a signed-in person through that link before configuring Author, assigned to or authorized by personal filters; a user identifier is not interchangeable with a People identifier.
Most records use Id; exchange rates uses ID. Patient number and lab case number support the corresponding operating references, and should be checked for duplicates before import. Users includes a required self-reference named User; check account provisioning before importing identities.
Keep patient receipts separate from appointment charges and reconcile them in the practice’s billing system. Keep every clinical measurement with its unit. Map dispensing evidence to the visit and authorizing clinician. Agree how the team keeps review and invoice decisions with its existing business records.
Migration order
- Confirm existing Users provisioning and self-reference behavior, then map People.User and the staff identities. Avoid importing user accounts as ordinary patient data.
- Load Patients with assigned dentist resolved to People; review identifiers and contact information against the source.
- Load clinical privileges, provider assignments and Consents with their existing patient or clinician references and dated evidence.
- Load Appointments, then chart notes, clinical measurements, lab cases, prescription dispensations and procedure charges using the correct visit references.
- Load Payments and treatment tasks against Patients, with assigned to resolved to People for tasks. Reconcile receipt totals separately from charges.
- Review exchange rates as read-only reference data, compare accepted source records and rehearse access before recurring imports.
