Matter-based practices
A practice that handles filings or formal disclosures needs to connect a due date to a real case and owner. Matter deadlines identify the obligation and completion evidence; matter events describe the milestones around it. Documents and production records then show what content was shared and the authority used for a particular recipient.
How Document Automation is set up for you
Due work
Assign a named owner and due date to each matter obligation.
Occurrence
Record hearings, filings, reviews, decisions and communications as dated events.
Disclosure
Identify the reviewed document, recipient, authorization reference and production hash.
A practice that handles filings or formal disclosures needs to connect a due date to a real case and owner. Matter deadlines identify the obligation and completion evidence; matter events describe the milestones around it. Documents and production records then show what content was shared and the authority used for a particular recipient.
Start with one active matter that has an approaching filing. Set the deadline and owner, then record the related event. Rehearse the difference between recording that work occurred and verifying the external receipt. The supervising attorney checks the receipt before the team treats the deadline as complete.
Next, register a document revision and its content hash. Review privilege before preparing any production. Choose a recipient and authorization reference and record the exact version shared. If the external result is uncertain, inspect the guarded operation receipt and reconcile the original action before anyone retries it.
This starting scope gives the owner a concrete daily list and leaves an evidence trail that can be read after the case closes. It also helps the auditor distinguish planned work, completed work and unresolved operations from the retained records.
Use the event date to explain when work occurred and the deadline receipt to confirm its outcome. Keep those two pieces of evidence together when the matter moves to review or closure.
