How the model is organised

Master data

Accounts, ContactPersons, Products, PriceBooks and PriceBookEntries govern commercial data. EnterprisePolicies and ProductPostingProfiles hold the applicable rules and account mappings.

Sales

Leads, Opportunities and Activities track development of an account. Keys and references

Record identifiers remain stable when a display number changes. Line records carry their parent’s identity; entity, currency and access boundaries can be inherited through that parent where the specification defines it. A source document reference alone is insufficient for partial processing: allocations retain the exact source line, quantity and amount already consumed and the eligible remainder.

Distinguish document currency, payment currency and functional currency. Saved rates, comparison amounts and carrying values explain approval and settlement; a current exchange rate must not rewrite an earlier decision. Document revisions, posting identities and integration event keys make retries distinguishable from new work. Polymorphic source references require a permitted type and a validated record, rather than an unchecked identifier.

Accepted stock has receipt, verified direct-delivery or production provenance and a cost layer. Principal drop-shipping retains title-transfer and customer-delivery evidence through its designated transit ownership location without claiming physical warehouse custody. For warehouse-held stock, each reservation belongs to the demand that consumes it. Posted journal entries retain their source event and immutable balanced lines; corrections use linked reversals or adjustments with an explicit posting date. A nonposting migration baseline or Parallel payroll comparison cannot acquire these operational effects merely because it resembles a live record.

Migration order

Establish MigrationBatches, source identifiers, cutoff dates and file digests. Import dependencies in a first pass, then resolve cross-references and validate exceptions before activating records.
Load Currencies before Entities, then ChartOfAccounts and accounting periods. Resolve entity relationships and load ExchangeRates, tax settings, account mappings and BankAccounts after their dependencies exist.
Load cost centres, departments, calendars and positions, then employees with restricted access and reviewed authority. Load effective compensation and component elections without exposing pay or bank details to ordinary migration users.
Load customer and vendor identities, contact mappings, warehouses, work centres and products. Add price-book entries, bills of material and routings after their referenced masters exist.
Reconcile opening ledger balances with accepted stock layers, work in progress, assets, open receivables and payables, unapplied cash and outstanding credits. Keep the opening detail and its ledger entry as one reconciled position; do not trigger receipt, expense, depreciation or payroll postings again.
Import open commercial documents with accepted revisions, source allocations and partial receipt, shipment, billing, payment and reservation history. Only the remaining quantity or obligation becomes eligible for future work. Resolve contract-cycle identities so migrated orders and direct invoices cannot repeat a cycle.
Load leave reservations and balances, approved time consumption history and PayrollOpeningBalances at the cutoff. Retain prior payroll and asset history as nonposting migration evidence. Reconcile a Parallel payroll comparison without updating operational time, leave, year-to-date totals, journals or bank instructions.
Compare source and destination totals, unresolved references and exception counts. The relevant business owners accept the reconciled opening position and freeze the migration batch before live processing begins.
