What you can do
Loan accounts in daily work
A loan account records the provider, external account identity, currency and borrower owner. Funding legs identify the application and account as well as their debit or credit direction and amount. Dated provider position rows give the team ledger and available balances with a provider snapshot identity.
The account is owned by a borrower and carries a provider account identity. Disbursements connect an application to that account through debit or credit legs. Repayment schedules stores dated provider positions, so Loan Operations Analyst can compare a later balance with the source snapshot. Credit Officer records verified funding against the right application.
How the work is organized
- Verify the owner. Match the provider account identity to the borrower on the application.
- Link funding. Keep each debit or credit leg with both the account and application.
- Preserve snapshots. Keep the date and provider snapshot identity with each position.
What to agree during setup
Agree how provider account codes and external identifiers are matched to borrowers. Define who enters funding legs and who checks them against a provider confirmation. A provider position is a dated snapshot; keep its source identifier so a later row can be compared with the earlier one.
Agree which provider reference establishes account ownership and who checks funding evidence before a leg is entered. Define how the team handles a provider response that names an unexpected account or currency. Compare position rows by their as-of dates and source identities; a new snapshot should remain distinguishable from an older one.
Check the handoff on an actual case
After a confirmed application, associate its provider account with the same borrower. Record the verified funding legs, then add a provider position with its as-of date and snapshot identity. Compare the amount and currency with the provider record. Check that the account and funding leg lead back to the application being serviced.
Credit Officer should trace a funding leg from the confirmed application to the provider account and borrower. Loan Operations Analyst should open Provider positions and compare the snapshot identity with the source record. If the account belongs to another borrower or a leg lacks supporting evidence, stop the handoff for investigation.
