Where it usually breaks
And how to keep it from happening.
- A draft bill must not change a released work order.
- Intermediate operation totals must not inflate finished output.
- A residual variance must not be hidden by closing the work order.
Release a frozen assembly basis, record actual work and resolve closing variance.
Warehouse Manager selects the active bill of materials, routing, output product and standard cost for the entity. The planned work order has a positive output quantity.
Warehouse Manager independently approves the current work order against its frozen basis and records the release decision. A draft recipe change cannot silently alter released work.
Warehouse Operator records actual good output, scrap and labor against the assigned operation. Intermediate operation counts do not become separate finished output.
Warehouse Operator records terminal output for review. The accepted completion carries actual work-in-progress cost and posts stock once.
Warehouse Manager reviews the remaining material and cost variance. Closure requires zero residual or an independent accepted variance decision.
