Keys and references
Every record has a stable identity within its company and permitted scope. Product units and reviewed conversions remain attached to the work that used them. External supplier or manufacturer lot identity is preserved through internal splits and movements. A new internal population identifier does not by itself establish a new regulatory lot code.
Recipes and released batches retain the approved revisions, measurement basis, specifications and packaging information. Actual input lots connect to output through source-bound quantities and costs. A separate trace view can conservatively include all commingled descendants; its rows are not another inventory balance and cannot be summed as additional cost.
Reservations, held quantities, actual use, output and returns consume their exact remaining source scope. A partial release applies only to its identified population. Other holds and date restrictions remain effective. Posted corrections preserve the original event and link their reviewed effects instead of rewriting performed history.
Financial records keep document, source and functional currency bases. Current carrying and previous adjustments follow the source into settlement, return or disposition. Repeated imports retain their external identity; conflicting content and uncertain outcomes remain unresolved until reconciled.
Migration order
- Prepare identities and approved definitions. Map companies, facilities, users, customers, suppliers, products, units, accounts and policies. Load the approved recipes, routing, quality specifications and label revisions needed by the selected scope. Validate references and current decision authority.
- Establish stock and production history. Reconcile lot populations, original supplier/output identity, date evidence, active holds, reservations and current carrying. Map issued work, consumed input claims, terminal output and remaining WIP without recreating receipts or production. Preserve genealogy and historical customer deliveries required for tracing.
- Reconcile the financial opening. Agree the cutoff and one opening ledger with nonposting stock, WIP, customer and supplier detail. Preserve open orders, actual receipt and shipment history, partial billing, settlement and prior currency adjustments. Resolve duplicate identities and uncertain external events before enabling new postings.
- Exercise the first native transactions. Check a remaining purchase acceptance, production completion, partial release, delivery and settlement against the imported position. Run a trace exercise and a source-linked return. Obtain the required opening approval and enable eligible new work only after quantities and finance reconcile.
