What you can do
Bounded configuration work
Configuration records describe the output basis and component quantities for an active assembly or repacking version. Routing and operation records hold the ordered work and declared labor and overhead basis. A released work order freezes its configuration, routing, output charger, planned quantity and standard cost. This keeps a later master-data change from rewriting the job.
Warehouse Manager approves release and assigns actual work. Operation entries record good output, scrap and labor at each operation. Completion records accept terminal output once and allocate actual work in progress against the standard output value. A separate variance remains visible for Finance Manager review before close when it is nonzero. Intermediate operation counts never become extra finished equipment.
How the work is organized
- Source and scope. Keep the selected configuration, component quantities, routing and output charger version with the released job.
- Decision and execution. Warehouse Manager approves release; Warehouse Operator records component issue, operation output and scrap against that job.
- Exceptions and correction. Allocate actual work cost to terminal output once, and present residual variance for Finance Manager review at close.
What to agree during setup
Agree component conversion, allowed loss, routing order and the standard cost effective at release. Warehouse Manager needs a planned output quantity and manager evidence before releasing work. Decide who records actual labor and scrap, and how Finance Manager handles a nonzero variance before closing the job.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Prepare a kit from component chargers for an accepted operator order. Confirm the component conversion and allowed loss, release a bounded work order, issue materials, then record a partial good output and scrap. Check the remaining work in progress and final variance before the manager closes the job.
Build a charger kit from two component lines and record partial good output plus scrap. Compare issued and returned materials with completed output. Check that an intermediate operation has not created another finished unit and that residual variance remains open until reviewed.
A completed operation and a completed work order have different effects. The Warehouse Operator can record progress without making the kit available for a customer order. Only accepted terminal output enters finished stock, with its component consumption and cost allocation traceable to the released job.
What your team sees
- Production Schedule — Released jobs and planned work windows.
- Warehouse Availability — Output available after a posted work completion.

What it keeps track of
Data model- Charger configurations
- Effective distribution assembly/repacking recipes with explicit output basis.
- Charger configuration lines
- Component quantities per explicit output basis, preserving dimensions and allowed loss.
- Installation routings
- Versioned assembly/repacking instructions, distinct from delivery routes.
- Installation operations
- Ordered work instructions and declared labour/overhead bases.
- Installation work orders
- Released bounded assembly/kitting/repacking, without plant APS or payroll scope.
- Work order materials
- Frozen required input and actual traced issue/return scope.
- Work order operations
- Frozen instructions and assigned actual work.
- Installation entries
- Actual operation throughput, scrap and labour evidence; intermediate counts do not sum to output.
- Work completions
- Accepted terminal output and WIP cost allocation, once per actual completed scope.
- Work order cost entries
- Immutable WIP debit/credit sources and bounded actual-cost allocation.
- Standard costs
- Entity/product standard per base unit with immutable effective versions.
Who uses it
Permissions- Warehouse Manager
- Approves released work; Warehouse Operator records physical output; Finance Manager reviews cost exceptions.
