Clinical review

An encounter awaiting review tells the Clinical Reviewer where to look. The reviewer examines the visit, signed note, observations and any linked specimen or dispensation record. Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • The reviewer may see a draft note and assume it has been signed. Check its status and signing date.
  • An observation may point to another encounter. Read its visit context before using it in the decision.
  • A specimen rejected by a lab may need a patient task, even if the rest of the encounter is complete.
  • A charge review is a separate billing decision. Completion of clinical review does not by itself establish an invoice.
