Follow-up coordination

A care task records the work, patient, responsible person, due date and status. The coordinator uses that record when the visit or specimen handling creates a later action. The task can progress from open into work, completion, escalation or cancellation. Its patient link keeps follow-up in the same identity context as the visit.

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • A task without an assigned person has no practical owner. Choose the responsible staff member before leaving it open.
  • A due date should reflect the clinic's care plan, especially for a rejected specimen or an unresolved patient contact.
  • Escalated work should stay visible until someone resolves it. Do not change it to completed to clear a list.
  • A return visit needs a new encounter so the original care event and its review remain understandable.
