Consumption to production cost

Compare validated consumption with effective rates and explain its allocation to production references.

Step by step

  1. Select the operating period Energy Manager

Energy Manager identifies validated consumption for the meter and period being assessed. Cost Analyst checks the actual boundaries and unit before comparing that quantity with a rate or production allocation.

    • Select validated quantities and units
    • Updates Energy intervals, Meters
  2. Find the effective rate Cost Analyst

Cost Analyst follows the meter to its site and examines tariff start and end dates. Select a rate only when the period and unit are compatible. Resolve overlapping rate periods before using the comparison in a cost total.

    • Match site, unit and effective period
    • Updates Tariffs, Sites, Meters
  3. Record the production allocation Cost Analyst

Cost Analyst enters the work order reference, meter and actual allocation interval. Record the attributed kilowatt-hours and explain the allocation method, especially where several production runs share the meter.

    • Attribute energy to a work order reference
    • Updates Production allocations, Meters
  4. Validate the attribution Cost Analyst

Validation checks the attributed allocation and preserves its actual interval. Correct negative quantities or reversed periods using the rejection reason, then revalidate. Review the corrected row before including it in the comparison.

    • Return Valid or Rejected with reasons
    • Updates Production allocations
  5. Explain the result Energy Manager

Cost Analyst uses the agreed cost calculation and compares valid allocations with consumption over compatible periods. Energy Manager reviews differences with the operating context. Identify any unresolved rate or allocation question alongside the result.

    • Review compatible cost and allocation comparisons
    • Updates Energy intervals, Tariffs, Production allocations

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • A tariff's start date qualifies but its end excludes the period. Review both boundaries.
  • A production allocation covers only part of the meter interval. Align the comparison before discussing the quantity difference.
  • A work order reference differs from the production team's identifier. Agree the reference convention before importing allocations.
