Specialist field teams
Specialist field work often involves technicians with different rates, capacities and responsibilities. This app keeps the technician record beside the work order, time and expense records for each engagement. An Installation Manager can inspect the actual service lines behind a delivery total, while the Field Operations Director can compare hours and cost with the engagement's baseline.
How Field Installation PSA is set up for you
Technician profile
Maintain the technician's role, bill rate, cost rate and weekly capacity hours for planning and review.
Delivered service
Record a dated work description, hours and billable flag on each work order line.
Time context
Link technician hours to the site and installation engagement so effort is attributed to the right job.
Travel costs
Record expense category, date, amount and receipt URL against the engagement.
Review outcome
Inspect work order decisions and operation receipts before counting a submitted line as approved delivery.
For example, a commissioning specialist visits a site for an active installation. The technician records a work order with hours, billable flag and engagement link, then enters the day's time and a travel expense. The work order submission runs its configured check. The Installation Manager reads the approval result and separately reviews the submitted time and expense. Each source remains visible when the director later asks why delivered cost changed.
Start with the technicians who will work on a pilot installation. Check their rates and capacity entries, then create the site and engagement. Ask a technician to enter a billable service line with positive hours and a valid engagement, followed by a time entry and expense. Review the awaiting approval lists and compare the resulting engagement totals with the original budget hours. Also submit a work order without an engagement to rehearse the failed operation receipt.
Agree when managers review time and travel claims and how corrections are made. The work order workflow is a guard on service-line eligibility; the separate time and expense statuses need their own operating review. This distinction gives the team a traceable answer when a service line is approved but its associated travel cost remains under review.
