How a Financial Planning & Analysis rollout works

Start with one planning cycle and verify decisions against source records.

  1. Set the scope

Choose an organization, period, plan owner, period owner and finance approver.

  2. Load reference data

Establish organizations, team members, partners and forecast drivers with stable identifiers.

  3. Prepare the cycle

Enter a plan with cost center lines, a forecast version and a period with linked documents.

  4. Rehearse decisions

Approve an in review plan, validate and post a period, and inspect the recorded decisions and receipts.

  5. Reconcile

Compare budget variance, forecast actuals and document totals with the owning financial source before expanding scope.

What the customer provides

Provide the organization and period calendar, cost center names, plan ownership, approved driver assumptions, document references and the source of recorded actual amounts. Name the people who may approve plans and advance periods. Use roles to agree access.

Changing it afterwards

Keep a new plan version distinct from the approved one. Review a driver’s existing versions before changing a rate or unit. Recheck affected views and reports after a source mapping or role change. Retain the action receipts and review decisions for the earlier cycle.
