Mapped growing areas

Operations that use surveyed growing areas need agreement on what each field and zone represents. The field record provides the operational name, code, location, area and availability status. A zone record adds boundary geometry, a survey date and a measured area. Keeping the zone linked to its field helps growers and managers use the same location when they discuss tasks or crop cycles.

How Greenhouse Management is set up for you

Field identity

Use a consistent name and code for each operating area.

Surveyed boundary

Attach geo JSON geometry and survey details to the correct field.

Cycle context

Link crop cycles and their tasks to the field used by the team.

Change review

Recheck field and zone associations when a boundary is surveyed again.

Choose one growing area whose physical boundaries are known. Enter its field name, code, location, area and current availability status. Have the field surveyor record the boundary geometry and survey date, then compare the measured zone area with the field record. The two area values may describe different scopes; decide what each means before importing additional shapes.

Next, create a crop cycle and an assigned task for that field. The manager should be able to follow the work back to the named area without guessing from a note. If an imported boundary is captured twice, use a stable source operation identity in the connection setup and review the resulting zone records. Resolve duplicate or wrongly linked shapes before relying on them for the growing plan.

Keep the first survey small enough for a manager and surveyor to inspect together. Once the field and zone naming holds up in real work, add the remaining areas and their active crop cycles.
