Start with one pending control and one active finding. Attach verification evidence, review the effective window and set the control state after a human check. Assign a corrective task with a due date and follow it through completion. Connect a retest to the assessment that prompted the work and review it before ending the finding. Ask another owner to inspect the record chain and explain why each state changed.
Meet with the people who enter evidence and the people who close follow-up. Ask them to inspect the same control and finding. The verification file should explain the control state, while the action dates should explain whether work finished on time. If the finding stays Active, the owner should be able to say which review remains. Repeat the exercise with an expired control and an escalated action.
The administrator should also revisit the control when its effective end date approaches. Ask the reviewer to inspect the evidence again, then update the status as needed. Keep the finding owner aware of any related corrective action that remains open.
