Keys and references

The patient number distinguishes a patient from a display name. Encounters points to both Patients and People. The encounter reference then joins notes, observations, charges, specimens and dispensations to the visit. Care tasks, Consents and Payments link to Patients. People links to Users, and care-team assignments link Patients to People with a purpose and effective period. Check these references when importing historical visits so evidence is not assigned to the wrong patient.

Migration order

  1. Load Users and People and check the user-to-person links.
  2. Load Patients with patient numbers and assigned clinicians.
  3. Load clinical privileges, Consents and care team assignments with their dates and evidence.
  4. Load Encounters with patient and clinician references.
  5. Load clinical notes, Observations, care tasks, Specimens, pharmacy dispensations and Charges against their parent records.
  6. Load Payments and review their patient references; check exchange rates separately where effective rates are relevant.
