What you can do
Performance in daily work
Performance cycles set the review window, self and manager deadlines, and calibration date. Performance reviews link a subject and reviewer with type, narrative, rating and state. Goals keep category, weight, due date, progress and final rating beside the same employee and cycle. HR Business Partner can follow the work from opening through release and acknowledgment.
A cycle gives review work its dates and state. Each review identifies a subject and reviewer, while goals connect progress and final rating to the employee and cycle. HR Business Partner maintains reviews and goals. Admin manages the cycle record and can check calibration and release before the employee sees an acknowledged review.
How the work is organized
- Set the window. Admin checks cycle dates and deadlines before review work starts.
- Collect reviews. HR Business Partner links the subject and reviewer and follows submitted work.
- Release the result. Admin checks calibration; HR Business Partner records release and follows acknowledgment.
What to agree during setup
Agree the cycle dates, review types, rating meanings and who may release a calibrated review. Explain how a missed deadline is followed up without changing the underlying rating. Keep access to individual narratives limited to the people who need it.
Agree which review types apply, who can see narratives and how the rating scale is used. Name the person who resolves a missing reviewer or late submission. Admin owns the cycle state while HR Business Partner maintains individual review and goal records. Test a case with a changed reviewer before release so the subject and reviewer references remain clear.
Check the handoff on an actual case
A manager prepares a review for a worker with two active goals. HR Business Partner checks that the cycle and reviewer are right, then follows submitted reviews into calibration. After release, the acknowledgment time can be checked separately from the review rating.
HR Business Partner finds the review in Reviews in progress and confirms that its subject, reviewer and cycle match the employee. Admin checks calibration before release. If the reviewer is wrong, HR Business Partner corrects the review before it moves forward. The acknowledgment date remains distinct from the rating and the original submission date.
