Keys and references

Employees.Manager points to Employees; Positions.reports to points to Positions; Departments.Parent points to Departments. These hierarchies should be checked separately. Employees.Position, Department and Location identify the person’s current assignment. Employment history keeps a dated event with from and to references. Keep employee ID, position code and department code stable during import, and reconcile display names only after references resolve.

Migration order

  1. Load Departments, Locations, pay grades, job titles, Positions and payroll calendars.
  2. Load Employees with position, department, location and manager references; review the reporting chains.
  3. Load recruiting, leave, time, benefit, performance and learning master records.
  4. Load dated transactions and employment history, preserving source identifiers and status values.
  5. Reconcile employee totals, manager spans and payroll period totals before opening current work.
