Systems to connect
- Identity. Decide how staff user accounts map to People records and configured roles.
- Laboratory. Agree how collection, accession and processing information enters the specimen record, and which measurements should appear with units and dates.
- Pharmacy. Decide how medication, lot and quantity are entered for a dispensation and how the authorizing person is identified.
- Billing. Agree how investigation charges and case payments are reconciled with your billing system.
How connections are governed
Start with record ownership. The source of a patient number, accession number or payment reference should be clear before data is imported. Map incoming values to the statuses and fields used by the team, then test a correction and a duplicate. Decide who can see clinical evidence and who can send it outside the organization. If you later connect a system, rehearse a failed exchange so the coordinator can identify the affected case and correct the intended episode. See implementation for the pilot sequence.
