Who it's for

Multi-warehouse operations

When stock is held in several warehouses, the same owning entity needs a clear view of location, custody and carrying value. A transfer changes physical control while preserving owned transit.

How Inventory Valuation System is set up for you

Keep the owner

A transfer changes warehouse custody while the stock position retains the same legal entity.

Release bounded stock

Warehouse Manager checks reservations and held quantity before approving dispatch.

Resolve transit

Match each destination receipt to the dispatched transfer line and leave unsupported quantity in transit.

When stock is held in several warehouses, the same owning entity needs a clear view of location, custody and carrying value. A transfer changes physical control while preserving owned transit.

Select an active stock position, dispatch part of its quantity to another warehouse and receive only an evidenced part. Review source, transit and destination positions before closing the transfer.

Begin with one entity, an active product and one warehouse or work order. Set the relevant cost version and policy thresholds. Ask Warehouse Operator to record actual events and Accountant to show the value bridge. A Finance Manager can then inspect the exception decision and the close task evidence. Expand the operating scope after this first cycle reconciles.

The useful question is whether a person can follow a specific quantity from its original evidence to its current position and carrying amount. If stock is held, picked, in transit or in production, the status should explain why it is outside ordinary available quantity. A later correction should have its own source and approval, preserving the earlier posted event.
