Platform engineering teams
A platform team needs to connect an operational interruption with the release work that may fix it. Services identify ownership and criticality. Changes hold risk, timing and a rollback plan. Deployment records show environment, version and outcome, while rollback checks record expected and actual observations.
How IT Service Management is set up for you
Release decision
Record the named CAB review decision before the implementing team starts work.
Execution evidence
Keep the deployment outcome and rollback checks with the service context.
Operational follow-up
Use incident updates and problems to explain why a change was needed.
A platform team needs to connect an operational interruption with the release work that may fix it. Services identify ownership and criticality. Changes hold risk, timing and a rollback plan. Deployment records show environment, version and outcome, while rollback checks record expected and actual observations.
Begin with services that have named owners and an agreed change review path. Choose a deployment environment and decide what evidence the Change Manager records after a release. For one planned change, enter a risk level, start and end time and workable rollback plan. Have the CAB Reviewer make a decision with a reason.
Rehearse both an approved and rejected path. For approved work, record a pending deployment as implementation begins, then the actual outcome. A healthy release label should be followed by a check of the service condition. If the result is failed or rolled back, keep that outcome visible alongside the original decision.
The team may also collect pipeline runs, deployment observations and feature rollout records for services where those operational feeds exist. Connect such sources deliberately and identify who reviews their records. For the initial operating cycle, focus on explaining a single change from incident finding through decision, execution and service verification.
