What you can do

Follow the working record

An assessment belongs to a course and carries a title, due date and maximum score. A result entry links that assessment to a learner, with the submitted score and date. Instructor submits the result; Academic Reviewer examines the graded result before marking it reviewed.

How the work is organized

Submitted, Graded and Reviewed mark different points in the result record. A submitted score is evidence to grade, while a reviewed score has passed the reviewer’s check. Keep the maximum score on the assessment, where every linked learner result can be read against the same reference.

  • Assessment. Keep the course, title, due date and maximum score together before results arrive.
  • Submission. Link each learner score to the assessment it answers and retain its submitted date.
  • Review. Move a graded result to Reviewed only after Academic Reviewer checks the score and assessment.

What to agree during setup

Agree who grades and who performs the academic review. Review assessment due dates and maximum scores before accepting submissions, and decide how a score correction will be checked before the result is treated as Reviewed.

Instructor confirms the course assessment and learner before accepting a result. Academic Reviewer checks the maximum score and submitted date on the same case. Agree how a corrected score returns for review.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Take a course assessment with a maximum score and a learner submission. Confirm the result points to that assessment and learner. Move it through Graded and let Academic Reviewer inspect the score before Reviewed. Reopen the linked assessment to check that the score is being interpreted against the intended maximum.

When a result is Graded, Academic Reviewer opens the assessment and learner links before marking it Reviewed. If the assessment belongs to another course, correct the reference and repeat the score check.

The reviewer should inspect the submitted date as well as the score. A learner may have more than one assessment in a course, so the assessment reference is necessary to understand the result. When the score is checked, leave the result tied to its original assessment and learner; creating a detached score would make later review difficult.
